Fun fact: August 3rd is National Watermelon Day
(But you certainly don’t need an excuse to use this theme for any day in the summer!)
If you are searching for a simple, summer party theme, this post is just for you! With the summer fast approaching, a Watermelon themed party is a great idea for last minute, refreshing fun! This party theme is a wonderful way to give your outdoor festivities some flair and personal flavor; it’s easy to put together and great for any age. (All these printable party favors are available in my shop!)
You don’t need much to pull off this theme; There are so many great DIY favors and decorations you can pair with this theme, but here are a few of mine!
Photo Booth Props
A fun way to get your guests involved and create memories is with these cute photo props; these are age-appropriate for young kids’ parties and a funny way to get the adults in a group photo! (You can even have your guests blindly choose their prop and strike a pose before they know what prop they’ve picked!)
Utensils & Bottle Décor
Spruce up your refreshments with bottle labels that come with amusing phrases; this is an easy way to turn an ordinary thing into something that complements your party and decorations. Go the extra mile and get patterned straws that match your color scheme, add watermelon slices to decorate your straws. (I got my red and green straws from Michael’s, but any craft store should do).
Favors & Confetti
If you’re planning to entertain kids or are planning a party where you’d need favors, I’d recommend some themed favor bags. Favor bags are super cute and easy to make. I decorated mine with watermelon slices, watermelon seeds, and more. You can definitely get creative when decorating these. Just like the bags, table confetti is a great way to tie your theme together. I used printable water melon slices. It’s a good trick to make emptier tables look fuller and more colorful.
Sweets & Treats
Lastly, a sweet way to end the summer fun is with some cupcake wrappers or cake toppers. It can be difficult to tie sweets into themes, but I’ve found that using wrappers for cupcakes makes party planning so much easier. The only thing you have to worry about is covering each cupcake! You can go even farther and make your cupcake frosting red or green to match! I finished off the cupcakes with chocolate sprinkles to make them look like seeds.
The most important part of the party planning process is that you and your guests enjoy it!
The Watermelon Party Package is great for a girl or teen party and can also be used as a fun family bbq party. If you have any party themed ideas or comments about this one, share them with me below! I’d love to hear your take on it.
